Get answers to common questions about Back Waxing.
Gently exfoliate two days before and avoid heavy creams on the day of service. Hair should be about one-quarter inch long for optimal removal. Arrive clean and avoid sunburn, tanning, or strong retinoids at least 48 hours prior to reduce irritation.
Some tugging and brief stinging are normal, especially on coarse hair, but pain is typically short-lived. Our skilled technicians use gentle techniques, warm wax, and calming aftercare; options like topical numbing can be offered for sensitive clients upon request.
Most sessions take about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on hair density and area size. Please allow up to 60 minutes for new clients to include consultation, prep, and aftercare instructions to ensure comfort and optimal results.
Schedule every four to six weeks for most clients to maintain smoothness as hair regrows. Individual cycles vary; coarse hair may need shorter intervals while slower growth might extend to six to eight weeks. Your technician will recommend a personalized schedule.
Certain skin conditions, recent sunburn, active infections, open wounds, or use of oral retinoids (isotretinoin) are contraindications. Also inform us of blood thinners, recent chemical peels, or recent cosmetic procedures. A brief consultation will confirm safety.
Avoid hot showers, saunas, heavy exercise, and sun exposure for 24 to 48 hours. Apply a gentle, fragrance-free soothing lotion or aloe, avoid exfoliation for 48 hours, and wear breathable clothing to reduce irritation and ingrown hairs.
